In a family-run company like DSC, generations of the family grow up with the business and many family members often join the ranks, learning the business from the ground up and working their way into leadership roles. But the family can’t do it alone – we need other skilled tradesmen and dedicated workers to join the team in order to provide the high quality, reliable and safe service that has come to be expected from our company.

We have been very fortunate over the past 80 years to have many dedicated employees and multiple generations of Utah families working with us to bring natural gas heat to our friends and neighbors in the Greater Salt Lake Valley.

Here are some of the reasons why our people like working for DSC:

  1. You’re One of the Family – A major factor contributing to job satisfaction is the bond developed by the people working side-by-side with one another each and every day. At DSC, we work hard to hire tradesmen who share our same values in order to develop cohesive teams that work well together. When you join DSC, you become one of our family.
  2. We Have a Lasting Impact on Our Local Community – Nothing is more satisfying than seeing how your work helps your local community and we take pride in being able to make a lasting impact on the communities in which we live and work. By concentrating the majority of our work in the Wasatch Front and surrounding areas, we help to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors.
  3. We Get to Work Outside – No Sitting Behind a Desk for Us  – Both Nate and Enoch Smith will tell you that the best part of their day is when they get to go to work outside. Our teams work in the great outdoors, using their hands and putting their own personal touches on each and every job they do. Sitting behind a desk or a computer all day isn’t for everyone; you can build a good life, and be financially successful working outside building things.
  4. We Offer Job Security in a Time of Uncertainty – There will always be construction jobs. There will always be a need to build new infrastructure or repair/replace aging infrastructure in our communities; after all, our friends and neighbors will always need heat in the winter.  Further, the work we do cannot be replaced by new technology or outsourced overseas.  Yes, there are advances in construction technology and machinery, but there will always be a need for skilled people to operate that machinery. And there will always be tasks that cannot be done by machines, so there is job security in our line of work.
  5. You Can Make a Good Living Here – When you’re looking to build a career that can sustain a family, DSC is the place to be. Although we realize that money isn’t everything – sure it’s a big motivator, but you also need to like what you do and the people you do it with – we aim to provide competitive salaries and reward our employees for their hard work. We realize that our employees have lives outside of the job and provide comprehensive benefits to cover their needs and paid time off to help them recharge their batteries and spend time with their families. This is a place you can spend your entire career.
  6. If You Don’t Have Experience, We’ll Train You – The work we do requires specialized training and sometimes, certification. If you are serious about building a career with DSC, we will provide on-the-job training and support the certification process for you. There is no better way to learn than to be out in the field learning from guys that have honed their skills in the field over many years. In addition, we aim to keep up with the latest equipment, so you will have access to (and be trained on) all of the latest industry tools.

What it all comes down to at DSC is working together, respecting each other and creating a great place to work for each and every person that joins our family. That is how we have succeeded for the past 80 years and how we will continue to operate for the next 80 years.
