There are a lot of nuances to driving construction vehicles such as a transport truck or dump truck. From ease of operation to visibility and driver comfort, there are many different variables that drivers encounter depending upon the model, the extra “bells and whistles” added, the age, and the condition of the trucks in a company’s fleet.

Diamond S. Company - Truck

If you’re a truck driver looking for a good gig in the construction industry, you’ll love our new trucks! We work hard to ensure that our trucks are kept in tip-top shape, and we have recently upgraded two trucks to ensure that we are putting the most capable, safest trucks on the road.

The Foundation of Our Fleet

At the foundation of our fleet are Kenworth T880 cab chassis trucks with Allison automatic transmissions and Cummins diesel motors. These trucks have superior visibility from the cab and Diamond S. Company - Truckseveral well-placed mirrors and backup cameras which provide 360-degree views for the driver—adding to the safety of operating the vehicles.

In addition, our trucks have top-of-the-line accessories which contribute to driver comfort, visibility, and safety. These extras also provide the ability for the driver to monitor the components of the trucks from the cab.

Dump Truck Transformation

Our dump truck features two drop axles, a hook lift kit installed by D&A Truck Equipment, and a bed built by Holland Equipment Company. This custom design allows the truck to “change its color.” We can haul materials, or have it act more like a roll off container. We can drop a bed and go get another one if needed. Enoch got the idea for this transformation from some trucks he found in Europe through his research. We plan to further upgrade our dump truck to be able to haul three beds in the near future. Having this “multiple bed” ability allows us to operate more efficiently and cost effectively.

Transport Truck Transformation

Our transport truck will pull pipe, haul equipment, and pull a side dump. It has a tag axle (to haul more weight) and an extra heavy front end with heavy flotation tires for off-road driving. This truck also has hydraulic kits that connect to and operate our trailers, a custom toolbox, and headache racks for driver safety.

At DSC we value our drivers and put their safety and comfort at the top of our priority list. We equip our modern trucks with the extras that make driving easier for our drivers and perform regular maintenance to ensure safety and longevity.
